I have a Cisco switch that I have to deal with - I have no control over it's configuration and at my facility, there isn't even anyone to ask ( a long story ).

If anyone knows a solution from one vendor please let me now, I find it weird nor Google neither Microsoft do not provide very basic services as a package which would not be full of surprises, technical glitches and attempts to maximise profits.įor now I am trying to figure out why newer versions of Outlook do not properly sync read/replied flags. Open to other solutions also.īy the way I am looking at migrating on prem server to cloud and ending up with a weird combination of GSuite for email server, Outlook for desktop client, Dropbox for file sharing (still not convinced) and JumpCloud for AD. Agreed people can mess up with archives and read-only function on a PST would be really good. Now with new futures such as trying to tell me what is important for me or enforcing conversation mode. Gmail client not an option as it still is what it originally was built as - temporary internal message exchanger. If all stored on the server, any desktop client would go likely crazy (citation required) from synchronising it (IMAP assumed). The mailbox would have close to 100 Gigs.

If you have an archive requirement, so this at the server end not the front end client, the end users can do all sorts of nonsense with these 'archives' in Outlook.
Thank you for you help in identifying what is wrong with newer Outlook not syncing properly. GSuite is a must due to a CRM integration. Collaborative Inbox by Google was useless.
I have found some 3rd solution for shared mailbox on GSuite but was cost prohibitive due to usury like nature of subscription services. does not support multiple identities in one account and also has quite limited and annoying interface), it had to be done via a client. Since Gmail does not allow this in a simple way (e.g.

I learned Outlook 2013+ does not allow much more to configure for IMAP than username and password so thinking some registry hack here if this issue is fixable?īy the way originally I needed a shared mailbox on GSuite with multiple people/identities accessing it but sharing it 100%. Strangely Outlook 2007 would work as it should and remark it as "unread". However if same email is marked back as "unread", Outlook 20 would not remark it as "unread" and keep it as "read". When email is marked as "read", it would synchronise in all of the above. I have learned Webmail, Outlook 2007 and eM Client synchronise read/unread flag perfectly among them. eM Client (best solution I know of for local Gmail email client - unlike Outlook it syncs Calendar and Contacts and I believe via API not IMAP) Webmail (both Gmail or linux based RoundCube)ĥ. I have tested marking messages as "read" and "unread" in following clients/interfaces (on both Linux and Gmail mail server accounts via IMAP):ġ.
Since then I have been preparing email migration over to GSuite and learned that Outlook versions 2013 and younger really have some problem with the email flags. I concluded it was an Gmail IMAP sync issue without investigating too much. User claiming messages on IMAP Gmail account would not get "replied" flag and would not be marked "read" when replied. I would like to discuss how new versions of Outlook handle and sync message flags.
